Angelic Voices was founded in January 2002 by singer/songwriter Jakki Jelene, who as a female artist, had a great passion to support others in her field.  What began as a modest Yahoo group quickly expanded to groups hosted on other popular sites such as MySpace, Last.FM and LiveJournal.  Each had a thriving membership in its own right and flourished as interest in female artists increased.  This was thanks in large part to the ongoing support throughout the internet of independent artists and powerful impact of word of mouth.

From the beginning, Angelic Voices was an endeavor dedicated to the discovery and promotion of female vocalists in downtempo, electronica, dream pop and new age music.  Once a team of people was formed, the natural progression was to launch a website and central community.  Our ultimate goal remains the same, but now extends to providing a new level of resources and information to artists and listeners.   We believe the best way to accomplish this is by building a community of active and enthusiastic members, as the most effective tool  remains word of mouth!

It is through recommendations by other fans that we often discover new artists and where those artists gain popularity.  In an industry where executives look for marketability over quality of work, it’s become increasingly difficult for these artists to gain exposure and most put in many hours outside of making music, and full time jobs, to promote themselves.  For this reason, we strongly encourage people to purchase music by these artists in an effort to support them financially as well.  By doing so, they can continue to produce the exemplary music we have come to enjoy!

Our vision for the future is to continue to grow as a website and community, adding more features and developing a section of artists who are also a part of the Angelic Voices community.  If you would like to help further our efforts, please consider making a donation through the PayPal logo on the site, or posting the banner on your website, using the code in the box below!
